These terms apply when you use The Next Race: the website at thenextrace.run, the web app at
app.thenextrace.run and the Android app published as com.thenextrace.run
(together, "the Service"). By using the Service you agree to them. How we handle your personal
data is set out in the Privacy Policy, and what is stored on your device
in the Cookie Policy.
The short version. The Service is a planning tool for runners. Its training plans and predictions are guidance, not medical advice. Race dates, courses, weather and travel times come from other sources and can be wrong, so check anything important with the race organiser or the transport company. What you put in stays yours, and you can delete it at any time.
1. Who we are
The Service is run by Max Slinger, an individual in the United Kingdom trading as The Next Race, of Suite 792, 80A Ruskin Ave, Welling DA16 3QQ. You can reach us at [email protected].
2. Who can use it
- You must be 18 or over. You'll be asked your year of birth when you sign up.
- The Service is invite-only for now. You can sign in once your invitation arrives.
- You sign in with your own Google Account, and an account is for one person.
- Keep your sign-in to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
3. What the Service does, and what it cannot promise
The Service helps you plan races, travel and training. Much of what it shows comes from other people or is worked out by the app. That includes race dates, entry deadlines and listings, course routes and climb, weather forecasts, flight and train times, how reliable a train has been, walking and travel times, and exchange rates.
We take care to get these right, but we cannot guarantee them. Race organisers change dates and courses, forecasts change, and trains run late. Before you rely on something important, such as a start time, a train or a booking, check it with the race organiser or the company concerned.
4. Training and your health
Training plans, paces, pacing plans, predicted finish times, heat notes and recovery advice are general guidance based on the information the Service holds. They are not medical advice, and they cannot allow for your health, injuries or circumstances.
- Speak to a doctor before you start training if you have a health condition, an injury or any doubt about your fitness.
- Stop and get advice if you feel pain, dizziness, chest discomfort or shortness of breath.
- You decide how you train and race, and you are responsible for doing it safely.
5. Other services you connect
You can connect accounts with other services, such as Strava, Intervals.icu and Oura, and through Intervals.icu your Garmin, COROS, Suunto or Wahoo watch. Each has its own terms, which apply when you use it. We are not responsible for those services, for what they do with your data, or for them being unavailable. You can disconnect any of them at any time in the Service's settings.
The Android app is downloaded from Google Play, and Google's terms apply to that download.
6. What you put in
Your races, runs, plans, trips, notes, photos and files remain yours. You allow us to store, copy and process them only as needed to run the Service for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. That permission ends when you delete them or your account.
A few things you add can be seen by other people:
- A course file you upload for a race in the listings is shared with other runners of that race, without your name.
- A race you add by hand can be published to the listings after we check it. Only its details, such as the name, date, place and distance, are published.
- A trip page you share can be opened by the people you choose.
Only add things you have the right to add, and nothing unlawful, offensive or that breaks anyone else's rights. We may remove shared content, such as a course file, that is wrong or breaks these terms.
Reporting something
Course files and race details that runners share can be seen by other runners. If you see something illegal or wrong, use the flag on it or email [email protected]. We read every report and remove anything illegal.
If we remove something you shared and you think we got it wrong, email the same address and we'll look at it again.
7. Using the Service fairly
Please do not:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to harm, harass or mislead anyone;
- try to get into another person's account or data;
- copy the race listings or other data out of the Service in bulk, or use automated tools to access it;
- interfere with the Service, get round its limits, or try to take its code apart;
- use it to run a business or sell its content to others.
8. Price
The Service is free to use today. If that changes, we will tell you in advance, and you will not be charged for anything unless you have agreed to it.
9. Changes and interruptions
We work on the Service all the time, so features may change, be added or be taken away. The Service may sometimes be unavailable, for example during maintenance or when a service it depends on is down. If a change takes away something you rely on, we will try to tell you in advance.
10. Leaving, and closing accounts
You can download your data or delete your account at any time. Deleting your account deletes your data, as described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or close the Service altogether. Unless the breach is serious, we will give you notice first and a chance to download your data.
11. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Nothing takes away your legal rights as a consumer.
If we fail to meet these terms, we are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that was a foreseeable result of that failure. We are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for loss caused by something outside our control, or for loss that comes from relying on information from other sources, such as a changed race date or a late train, where we have taken reasonable care. The Service is for personal use, so we are not responsible for any business loss.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms when the Service or the law changes. The version and date at the top of this page always show the current version. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the Service at least 30 days before it applies, and you can delete your account if you do not accept it.
13. The law that applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes can be taken to the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own courts. If you live in the European Union, you keep the protections of your own country's consumer law.
14. The rest of the agreement
These terms are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. If a court decides part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
15. Contact
Questions about these terms go to [email protected], or by post to The Next Race, Suite 792, 80A Ruskin Ave, Welling DA16 3QQ.
