The Florence Marathon is on Sunday 29 November 2026, its 42nd edition. It starts at 8:30 in Piazza del Duomo, beside the cathedral, and finishes close by in Via dei Pecori, after Piazza San Giovanni. In between the route crosses the Arno several times and passes Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi, Piazza della Signoria, Piazza Santa Croce, Piazza Pitti and the Cascine park.
The marathon is sold out, and the organiser has a waiting list. A 10K is run the same morning.

Collecting your number 2026 details
Numbers are collected at the expo in Stazione Leopolda, a former railway station at Viale Fratelli Rosselli 5, near Porta al Prato. It opens on Friday 27 November from 10:00 to 19:30 and on Saturday 28 November from 9:00 to 19:30. Bring ID and your confirmation letter, on paper or on a phone, with any documents the letter asks for. Someone else can collect for you with a copy of their photo ID, your confirmation email and your written consent.
To run with a time and a place in the results, you need a membership card, from the Italian federation, a Runcard or a foreign federation affiliated to World Athletics. Foreign runners also need the organiser's health form, valid on race day. Both can be uploaded after you enter. A foreign runner without a membership card can enter the non-competitive category instead, which gives a time but no place in the standings.
The T1 tram stops at Porta al Prato Leopolda, a short walk from the expo. Santa Maria Novella station is about 1 km away, and buses 1 and 9 run from Via della Scala.
Race morning 2026 details
The start grids in and around Piazza del Duomo open at 7:00, and you must be in yours by 8:00. A runner who arrives late starts behind the last grid. Grids go by colour, from the personal best you declared.

The bag deposit is in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, from 7:00, with bags grouped by bib number. Use the organiser's bag with your bib sticker on it, and leave valuables at the hotel. Free pacers run for finish times from 2:55 to 5:30, each marked by a coloured balloon.
The course 2026 details
The organiser calls it a new route for 2026. It starts in Piazza del Duomo and passes Ponte Vecchio, Piazza Santa Croce, the Uffizi, Piazza della Signoria and Piazza Pitti. It crosses the Arno several times and runs through the Cascine park, along Viale Washington and past the athletics stadium, before it finishes in Via dei Pecori.
The time limit is 6 hours. Halfway closes at 3 hours and 30 km at 4 hours 15, and times are taken every 5 km. A sweeper vehicle follows the last runners. Anyone it passes must follow the street signs to the finish.
Refreshments come every 5 km, with water and salts throughout and food such as fruit and bars from 15 km. Sponges are at 7.5 km and every 5 km after it, to 37.5 km. Each 5 km point also has first aid with an ambulance.
Getting to Florence 2026 details
Florence airport is linked to the city by the T2 tram, which takes about 20 minutes to the centre and runs every 5 minutes, according to the city's tourist site. A ticket costs €1.70 and lasts 90 minutes. Santa Maria Novella is the main railway station.
Where to stay in Florence
The start, the finish and the bag deposit are all in the centre, within a short walk of one another, and Santa Maria Novella station is close to the bag deposit. A room in the centre keeps race morning on foot, and the expo is a tram stop or a walk from the station.
Weather in Florence in late November
The race is held on the last Sunday in November, or close to it. These are the last five race days, at the start in Piazza del Duomo, at 8:00 and at 13:00. The hour is the one the marathon starts in. They are model estimates for the start area, not readings from a weather station.

Mornings are cold and still, close to freezing in 2023, and the afternoons were 9 °C to 11 °C by 13:00. Plan warm layers for the hour in the start grid.
Afterwards 2026 details
You get your medal, a foil blanket, water and food in the athletes' area after the finish, with hot and cold drinks, fruit and bars. Once you leave the finish area you cannot go back in. The bag deposit in Piazza Santa Maria Novella is a short walk away, and the route to it is signed.
