The Indianapolis Monumental Marathon is on Saturday 7 November 2026. The marathon and half start together at 8:00 downtown, a block north of the Indiana Convention Center, and the organiser describes the course as fast and flat. It runs through downtown, the historic neighbourhoods and the cultural districts, and passes the Heslar Naval Armory, built in 1938 to look like a ship, just after mile 20.
All in-person distances are sold out. The organiser says some places may be offered at the expo from 16:00 on 5 November, while they last.

Collecting your number 2026 details
Collection is at the expo in Halls A and B of the Indiana Convention Center, one block south of the start and finish. It is open on Thursday 5 November from 16:00 to 19:00 and on Friday 6 November from 11:00 to 20:00. Bring your check-in pass, which shows your bib number, and government-issued photo ID, printed or on your phone.
Someone else can collect for you with your check-in pass and a copy of your photo ID. There is no race-day collection unless you bought the organiser's race-day will call, which has limited places. Waves go by your expected finish time. You can move to a slower wave on race day, but not a faster one, and the expo has a wave change station.
Race morning 2026 details
Gear check opens at 6:30 at Washington Street and West Street. Only the clear bag you get at the expo is accepted. A warm-up area opens in the expo hall from 6:00. The marathon and half start at 8:00, in waves, and the 5K at 8:40. In 2023 the start and finish were on Capitol Avenue at Washington Street.
The course 2026 details
The marathon and the half share the course to the split, between miles 7 and 8, where the half takes its own route. You must reach the split by 10:25 to carry on in the marathon. The time limit is 7 hours, at a pace of 16 minutes a mile, about 9 minutes 57 seconds a kilometre, and the course closes at 15:30. No times are recorded after that.
Every aid station has water, and every other one also has Gatorade Thirst Quencher. Neversecond gels are handed out at miles 10.5, 15.5 and 22. There are portable toilets at the start, the finish and every aid station.
Getting to Indianapolis 2026 details
The start, the finish and the expo are all downtown, within a few blocks of one another. Streets close around the course on race morning, so the organiser's parking page and race app have the weekend's maps.
Where to stay in Indianapolis
A room downtown, near the Indiana Convention Center, keeps collection, gear check, the start and the finish all on foot. That matters on a morning when the streets around the start are closed.
Weather in Indianapolis in early November
The race has been held on a Saturday in late October or early November. These are the last five race days, at the start on Capitol Avenue, at 8:00 and at 13:00. The hour is the one the marathon starts in. They are model estimates for the start area, not readings from a weather station.
