Zurich Seville Marathon 2027

Sunday, 21 February 2027 · Seville, Spain

Flat is Seville's whole pitch. The race is billed as the flattest course in Europe, at sea level and sheltered from wind, and the city's sports institute counts 38 turns and a height difference of 10 m. That is the spread between the highest and lowest point, not a total climb.

You start beside the María Luisa Park and pass the Plaza de España, the Torre del Oro, La Giralda and the Maestranza bullring, with the Puente de San Telmo and the Puente de la Barqueta on the way, and you finish on the Paseo de las Delicias.

The 2027 race is the 42nd edition, on Sunday 21 February 2027. It's capped at 20,000 runners. General registration opened on 17 April 2026 and runs to 15 February 2027, or until the bibs are sold. The 2026 race announced a record 20,000 registrations, so check the registration page before you plan around a bib.

Getting to Seville

Seville airport is served by one special airport line, the EA. On the tourist board's 2023 timetable it left the arrivals area every 12 to 15 minutes through the day, from 5:20 until 1:00 at night, and called at Santa Justa station, Prado de San Sebastián and the Plaza de Armas bus station. Prado de San Sebastián is also one of the stops the organiser lists for the start area. Timetables change, so check Tussam's current one.

For the start, use the TUSSAM city buses, the metro or the Renfe commuter trains. On race day the city's buses are free for runners showing their bib and for volunteers, from 6:00 to 18:00, with extra services near the start and finish. Bus lines C1, C2, 1, 3, 5, 6 and 34 serve the area, at Prado de San Sebastián, Virgen de Luján and Paseo de las Delicias. Metro line 1 has Puerta de Jerez, Prado de San Sebastián and San Bernardo close by. Commuter lines C1, C4 and C5 stop at San Bernardo and Virgen del Rocío.

The city's sports institute also publishes a list of bus lines that stop or divert that morning, and the list isn't dated. It has the circular lines C1 to C5 suspended for part of the day, which doesn't sit comfortably with the organiser's own list. Check Tussam's notice for race week, because neither page is certain.

If you drive, arrive early to avoid congestion.

Where to stay in Seville

Stations are the best guide to where to sleep. Anywhere near Prado de San Sebastián, San Bernardo or Puerta de Jerez has the metro or buses for the start, and the finish is on the Paseo de las Delicias.

The expo is at FIBES, served by bus routes 27 and B4 and by the C4 commuter line, which stops at Palacio de Congresos.

Collecting your number

You collect at the runner's expo at FIBES, Alcalde Luis Uruñuela 1, on Friday 19 and Saturday 20 February from 10:00 to 20:00 without a break. Bring the registration receipt and an ID card or passport. The race bag is handed over there as well, and you need your bib to get it.

If you can't go yourself, someone else can collect for you with your receipt, a photocopy of your ID and a signed authorisation. On race day nothing is given out under any circumstances.

The expo has a pasta party, talks and merchandise, and entry is free. On the Friday and Saturday the city runs extra buses on the routes to FIBES.

Race morning

The first start is at 8:30. Waves are set by time band, and your wave is emailed to you and printed on your bib. The bands are under 2:45, then 2:45 to 3:00, 3:00 to 3:15, 3:15 to 3:30, 3:30 to 3:45, 3:45 to 4:00 and over 4:00. The start times for each wave aren't published yet. There are pacers for 2:45, 3:00, 3:15, 3:30, 3:45, 4:00, 4:30 and 5:00.

The bag drop is at the port on Avenida Santiago Montoto, near the Aquarium, about 500 m from the start line. It's open from 6:45 to 15:30. You can only use the official runner's bag from the expo, with your bib number sticker on it, and staff may ask you to open it. Nothing can be handed in during the 20 minutes before your wave goes. The organiser takes no responsibility for what's inside, so leave the valuables at home.

The finish line closes at 15:00. The regulations give a maximum of 6 hours from the last runner's start.

The course

The route runs through the old city and across the river, from Avenida de María Luisa to Paseo de las Delicias, passing the Alameda de Hércules, Plaza Nueva and the Paseo de Cristóbal Colón on the way. The organiser publishes a map and a street-by-street route but no profile or climb figure.

The regulations put water and isotonic drink at 5, 10 and 15 km, with water, drink, gels, energy bars, fruit and nuts at 20, 25, 30, 35 and 40 km, and smaller stations at 7.5, 12.5, 17.5, 22.5, 27.5, 32.5 and 37.5 km. The 2026 aid page gave different kilometre points, with gels at 20.7 and 29.6 km, so the 2027 stations may move. Last year there were portable toilets at 4.6, 9.4, 15.3, 20.7, 25.4, 29.6, 34 and 40.3 km, as well as at the start and finish.

Weather in Seville in February

February in Seville is cool at 8:00 and warm by 13:00. These are the last five race days at the start on Avenida de María Luisa, at 8:00 and at 13:00. The wind in the table is between 5 and 12 km/h.

Race day8:0013:00Wind at 8:00
20 February 20229.6 °C18.5 °C10 km/h
19 February 202311.8 °C18.8 °C12 km/h

23 February 20258.8 °C14.8 °C5 km/h
22 February 20269.2 °C16.5 °C12 km/h

By 13:00 it was between 6 and 9 degrees warmer than at the start, which matters to anyone still out there at lunchtime.

Afterwards

Your bag is waiting at the port, not at the finish, so allow for the walk before you go home. The city's buses stay free until 18:00.
