The DNB Oslo Marathon starts and finishes at Rådhusplassen, the City Hall square in the centre of Oslo. The 2027 race is on Saturday 18 September. The marathon starts at 9:00, and the half marathon follows at 13:00 on the same square.
Registration for 2027 is open, through a new system the organiser has moved to. The organiser has not yet published the 2027 route, so the course details below are from 2026.

Getting to Oslo
The organiser asks everyone to use public transport to reach the arena. If you arrive by train, it recommends getting off at Oslo Central Station or Nationaltheatret. Nationaltheatret is the nearest stop, with buses, trams and the metro. It points to Ruter for route planning.
Where to stay in Oslo
Rådhusplassen is in the centre, so a room near Nationaltheatret or Oslo Central Station keeps the walk short on Saturday, when the organiser warns the city will be busy. The organiser also lists a partner hotel as its Runners Hotel on the participant page. Compare that with your own options by walking time to the square.
Hotel suitcases cannot go into the race bag storage. The organiser suggests the luggage storage at Oslo Central Station for them.
Collecting your number 2027 details
The 2027 expo is at Rådhusplassen. It is open on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 September from 9:00 to 20:00, and on Saturday 18 September from 7:00 to 15:00. The organiser recommends Thursday or Friday if you live in or near Oslo, because Saturday brings long queues.
Bring your start card and valid photo ID. The start card is emailed to you the week before the race and is in your participant profile, and you also get an SMS. A friend can collect for you with your start card and a copy of your ID. Running with someone else's number can lead to disqualification.
You also pick up your race bag and your T-shirt, if you ordered one, at the expo. The marathon starts at 9:00, so collect before race morning if you can.
In 2026 the expo moved to Tøyen, because the funeral of the King affected the City Hall square on the set-up days. The 2027 page names Rådhusplassen, so check the organiser's page again before you travel.
Race morning 2027 details
The marathon starts in three pools, at 9:00, 9:05 and 9:10. The estimated finish time in your registration puts you in a pool, with the fastest first. The organiser says you may not start in a pool other than your own, and doing so can lead to disqualification. Times are subject to change.
Bag storage is in the City Hall courtyard at Fridtjof Nansens plass, right by the start, from 7:00 to 19:00. Only the official bag from the expo is accepted. Tear off the label on your number and attach it to the bag. Personal bags and suitcases are not accepted. You collect the bag by showing your number, and the organiser asks you to collect it right after finishing, to avoid queues. The storage is outdoors and at your own risk, so put the contents in a plastic bag if rain is likely.
Most toilets near the start are on Otto Sverdrups gate, with more than 130. After the finish there are 8 on the City Hall square. There are 3 toilets at each drink station.
The limit is 6 hours. You must also pass the halfway point in under 3 hours or you can be stopped. Music in your ears is not allowed, and neither are strollers or dogs.
The course 2026 details
The 2026 marathon ran the half marathon route twice. The organiser gives 350 m of climb for the marathon and about 175 m for the half marathon. It says the 2027 course will be presented closer to the race.
The organiser publishes GPX files and a Google Maps version of the 2026 courses on its course page. Use them for a pacing plan with the caveat that the 2027 route is not out yet.
For 2027, the organiser lists drink stations about every 5 km, with sports drink and water. The marathon station and some half marathon stations also give bananas and cola. Marathon pacers are listed from 3:00 to 5:30, at 15-minute steps up to 4:45, then 5:00 and 5:30.
Weather in Oslo in September
The race has been run on a Saturday between 12 and 21 September in the last five editions. These are the last five completed race days at Rådhusplassen, at 9:00 and at 13:00. They are model estimates for the start area, not readings from a weather station.

Afterwards
The finish is on Rådhusplassen, the same square as the start. Collect your bag first, because the organiser asks runners to clear the storage area quickly. Every finisher receives a medal, and you can follow other runners on the organiser's app while you wait.
The 2027 results are published on race day. Photos by Sportograf appear on its own website after the race.
