Copenhagen Half Marathon 2027

Sunday, 19 September 2027 · Copenhagen, Denmark

The Copenhagen Half Marathon is a flat city race with a very large field. The 2027 edition has room for 45,000 runners, and more than 100,000 people have already entered the draw for those places. It starts on Jagtvej in Østerbro and finishes in Fælledparken, and the route runs through Østerbro, the inner city, Vesterbro, Frederiksberg and Nørrebro.

The race is on Sunday 19 September 2027 at 9:30. The organiser calls it a super flat and fast route, and the series page adds wide and closed to traffic.

Entry is a lottery, and it has closed. The draw ran from 16 to 30 September 2026, and the organiser began emailing winners on 5 October.

Getting to Copenhagen

Copenhagen Airport is 8 km from the city centre, and both the metro and the train leave from Terminal 3. The tourist board puts the trip at about 15 minutes, with the metro every 4 to 6 minutes in the day and evening and a single ticket to the city at DKK 30.

The metro is the way to the race. The organiser names Trianglen as the closest station to the Runners Area and Vibenshus Runddel as the alternative. Several bus lines are rerouted on the day, and parking near the course is not available.

Where to stay in Copenhagen

The start and finish are in Østerbro, so measure from there. These are walking times from the Parken stadium address on Øster Allé.

AreaTo the start area
Østerbro, around Trianglen8 minutes on foot to Trianglen, 0.6 km
Near Poul Henningsens Plads15 minutes on foot, 1.15 km
Nørrebro35 minutes on foot from Nørrebro station, 2.6 km
Nørreport and the old centre38 minutes on foot, 2.85 km
Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn42 minutes on foot, 3.1 km

From anywhere past Poul Henningsens Plads the metro is the sensible choice. The organiser sells an event ticket for 12 hours of travel across Greater Copenhagen, including harbour buses, in the DOT Billetter app, and two children under 12 travel free.

Collecting your number

The organiser's practical page for 2027 does not give the expo. An earlier edition's expo help desk was at Sparta Hallen, Gunnar Nu Hansens Plads in Østerbro, and a listing of that edition shows bibs ready on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, with the expo open from 10:00 to 19:00 on the Friday and Saturday. Treat those as last time's arrangements until the 2027 page says so.

Race morning

Your start group is set by the finish time you gave when you registered, and its colour is on your number. The organiser asks you to be at your group 15 minutes before the time listed, and the official start is 9:30.

Expected finishColourBe at your group at

2:00 to 2:15Red10:00
Over 2:15Black10:15

Timing is by net time, which starts when you cross the start line, so a late group loses nothing. Wear the number on your chest, because the timing needs it there and not on your back or lower body. The Runners Area in Fælledparken has the bag drop, toilets and water at every start group, and pace teams run with coloured balloons.

The course

The organiser's course page lists Kongens Nytorv, Frederiksberg Allé, the lakes, the Old Stock Exchange and the Black Diamond, and the series page adds Christiansborg Palace and the Marble Church. The organiser calls the route super flat and fast, with live bands, DJs and loud spectator zones along it.

There are five official refreshment zones and a Red Bull sampling spot. Every zone has water and energy drink in biodegradable cups, and the organiser lists cold showers, toilets and medical support too. The zones are on both sides of the road, with a sign 100 m before each. The kilometre marks are not listed and no climb figure is published. The series page gives the men's course record as 58:01 (2019) and the women's as 1:04:44 (2025), and the official app tracks split times every 5 km.

Weather in Copenhagen in September

The race is in mid-September. These are the last four mass races at Østerbro, at 9:30 (the average of the 9:00 and 10:00 readings) and at 13:00. The 2026 race, held on 20 September as the World Athletics Road Running Championships, is left out.

15 September 202413.3 °C15.4 °C18 km/h

The wind in 2024 was 18 km/h, and in 2023 it was 7 km/h with the warmest start of the four.

Afterwards

Fælledparken is the Runners Area on race day, with the medal tent, a medal engraving tent opposite the entrance, a recovery zone with massage, food and drink vendors and a bell for personal records. Your bag comes back with the tag. The metro at Trianglen and Vibenshus Runddel takes you back into the city.
