Nationale-Nederlanden Warsaw Marathon 2027

September 2027, date to be announced · Warsaw, Poland

The Warsaw Marathon starts and finishes at the Palace of Culture and Science, in the middle of the city. The route takes in the palm tree at the De Gaulle roundabout, the National Museum, the Poniatowski Bridge with its view over the Vistula, the National Stadium, Skaryszewski Park, the districts of Żoliborz and Bielany, and the Royal Route, Krakowskie Przedmieście.

The race has been run every year since 1979 and holds a World Athletics Elite Label. The 2026 race was the 48th, on Sunday 27 September.

The organiser has opened registration for 2027 and has not posted the date. The race usually falls on the last Sunday of September, which would make it 26 September, but that is the pattern and not an announcement. The details below are from the 2026 pages.

Getting to Warsaw

Warsaw Chopin Airport is on the city's SKM trains, lines S2 and S3, and the airport operator puts the trip to the centre at about 30 minutes. The stations include Warszawa Śródmieście, Warszawa Centralna and Warszawa Zachodnia, and a 75-minute public transport ticket covers it. Bus 175 runs from the arrivals level to the centre, including Warszawa Centralna and the Centrum metro station, and takes about 30 minutes to Centrum. A licensed taxi to the centre costs about 50 złoty.

Warszawa Centralna, the main station, is 0.5 km from the Palace of Culture, a 7-minute walk, so a base near it has the start and the race office on foot.

Where to stay in Warsaw

The start is in the middle of the city, which makes the choice easy. The table gives walking times from the Palace of Culture and Science.

The race office was at 1 Plac Defilad, on the Marszałkowska side of the Palace of Culture, in 2026. It opened on Friday 25 September from 14:00 to 20:00 and on Saturday 26 September from 10:00 to 20:00, and the expo ran at the same times on the central square. The race office is closed on race day.

The 2027 days are not out. On the Saturday of the 2026 weekend there was also a pierogi party from noon to 17:00 and a mini marathon with a fan zone from 11:00 to 16:00.

Race morning

The organiser lists two start times for the marathon. Its race information and schedule pages say 9:00, and its road-closure page says 8:30, which looks like the time the streets close. Plan for the earlier one at the Palace of Culture, since the start line closes after about 10 minutes.

Start zones are assigned by the finish time you gave at registration, and flags mark them in the start area. Net time counts from when you cross the line. The bag deposit in the Runners' Village was open from 7:30 to 16:30. Pacers are available for 30 target times from 2:25 to 5:30, marked with flags.

Streets in the centre close from 8:30, and the road-closure page lists Świętokrzyska, Marszałkowska and routes through Praga, Wola, Bemowo, Bielany and Żoliborz. Parking by the Palace is limited, so the metro is the way in.

The course

The organiser describes the route as long, smooth sections with few demanding climbs. It gives 83 m of total climb, and names the most demanding stretch as a 500 m climb at about 16 km. Start and finish are at 113 m above sea level.

Drinks stations come about every 2.5 km from 5 km, with water at all of them and isotonic drink and bananas at alternate stations from 10 km. There are toilets near every station, and wheelchair-accessible toilets after stations 3, 7, 9 and 14.

Weather in Warsaw in September
