European Marathon Classics
8 race weekend guides · checked 2 October 2026
The European Marathon Classics is a series of eight city marathons, from Rome in March to Frankfurt in October. It launched on 25 February 2026 at Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, and the eight races are Rome, Vienna, London, Madrid, Copenhagen, Warsaw, Lisbon and Frankfurt.
Each race keeps its own organiser, its own entry and its own price. The series sits on top of them and counts what you finish.
How the medal works
You create a free account on the series' site and register for the challenge. Complete five different marathons from the eight, each in a different city, and you become a European Marathon Classics Finisher with a commemorative medal. The series says there is no time limit for the five.
The medal is a large disc. Each race you finish earns a magnetic coin in that race's colours, marked Finisher, and the coins fit onto the disc. The series' own site describes it as five coins for the medal and all eight for the full set.
Past results count. The oldest race in the series is Madrid, first run in 1978, and Lisbon dates from 1986. From the second half of 2026 you can search for your own earlier finishes in any of the eight races from your account, and the series says it verifies them, with the Let's Do This platform providing the technology. A verified finish earns a digital coin. The series reported more than 15,000 runners from 126 countries in July 2026, and said the first medals would go out at the autumn 2026 races in Warsaw, Lisbon and Frankfurt.
